Tampico is a city and port in northeastern Mexico in the state of
Tamaulipas. In the 2010 count of the city of Tampico INEGI has a population of
305,284 inhabitants, making it the most populous city in the metropolitan area
of Tampico.
While on holiday in Tampico find a wide variety of tourist attractions,
among which will be very difficult to choose the best, from going to the beach,
visit the Lagoon of the Carpenter or admire historical and cultural monuments,
to take a walk through the historic center city.
The rich history of Tampico gives a special charm,
from the ancient pyramids made of sand and shells, other
than the pyramids of Mesoamerica-stone, to the sumptuous Art Nouveau buildings
with styles and classic Age of Santa Anna and Viceroyalty.
This center is dedicated to the dissemination of culture and is a
meeting place for students, teachers and lovers of the arts and general
knowledge. Its modern facilities, located at the edge of the Lagoon of the
Carpenter, house the Metropolitan Theater, a gallery for temporary exhibitions,
a center for experimental theater, and the museum of the Huasteca culture.
The Cathedral of
Tampico, also known as the Cathedral Church, will find an incredible altar of
white Carrara marble with a beautiful image of the Immaculate Conception, a
monumental organ donated by a prestigious German family in the area and a
granite walkway with swastikas reflected in its entirety.
